People learn how to speak and communicate over a long period of time. As we enter the parenting battleground, many of us have challenges communicating with our children. It is frustrating unless we take a moment and remember that they are learning. At first, it was difficult for me when my child was whining, screaming, or crying. More experienced mothers, especially my mother, gave me some good advice.
Everything will be fine with time.
In many cases, that was true. However, in my experience, communicating with children can be more complicated than that! Both parents and children must move through a clumsy season together in order to understand each other.
This is a team effort!
Inspired by my own failures and difficulties, I came up with the series about ‘Mikey and Dorothy’.
Mikey is a young kid doing his best to communicate with the limited skills of a toddler. Dorothy is a busy, new mom who doesn’t always understand what Mikey wants to say. In this series, we join them as they try their best to find ways to understand each other. Let’s discover the many adventures of Mikey and Dorothy!
My big picture is to showcase Mikey and Dorothy, capturing their moments of growth. I believe better communication isn’t built in a day. So, I’m planning Mikey’s days in his kindergarten after the Mikey and Dorothy series from 1 to 3, which highlights Mikey’s toddler experiences. I hope this will encourage you to communicate better and understand your children more.”
